Enjoy Some Of The Sexy Art Of Jacques Sultana
I think it's about time we enjoyed something arty here at Gay Body Blog.
Today we're checking out some of the sexy men of French artist Jacques Sultana.
I don't know why I'd never heard of him before when so many of his paintings are the kind of work I love to see.
Born in 1938 it seems as though much of his work was done from the 70s to the 90s. He focused almost exclusively on male subjects and mostly nude, sometimes erotic.
To say he was kind of ahead of his time with regard to painting male nudes unashamedly would be an understatement.
In my experience it seems as though a lot of artists who were probably gay and did paint nude men also branched out into other subjects as a form of cover, but it doesn't look like he did.
I also read that he liked to capture his subjects static, like something had just happened or was about to. I don't think it takes a lot of imagination to work out what he meant by that, considering the images we see below.
Jacques Sultana passed in 2012, but he left behind a lot of great work that comes up for auction now and then. I have to admit I wouldn't mind having one on my wall.
I very appreciate the Sultana’s harem (humour) a kind of good vintage
Wow, in most of the drawings the men look real! What an artist!
