What Are Your Gay Kinks?

Okay guys, I think it’s time we talked about some gay kinks, and I really want to know what you’re into. For the time being we’re gonna focus on some of the most obvious and common, but I get the feeling plenty of you have kinks of your own that you’ll want to mention.

Is it true that everyone has a fetish? I don’t know. I guess it depends on what you consider a fetish to be.

Foot Fetish

I personally never had a thing for feet, but I get that foot fetishes are super popular. So why is that? I did a little digging and apparently the feet are usually one of the most sensitive areas of the body. I guess that makes sense. I never really thought about it but most people are ticklish on their soles, right? There’s plenty of opportunity to explore sensory experiences with the feet.

There’s also a cultural aspect. Some societies consider the feet to be special, or beautiful. Likewise, there have been taboos about feet in Western society in the past, so there’s a possibility that the foot fetish interest is related to the era when it was considered scandalous for someone to display their feet for others to see.

Many people who have a foot fetish also have a fetish for socks or stockings. It’s interesting to consider that this might mean the hiding of feet from view makes them more intriguing for some people.

Without getting too “sciency” on you, it’s likely that an interest in feet could come from a learned behavior, a reaction to the societal norm where the feet are usually hidden. Sometimes feet are considered “dirty” or just something people don’t want to see, so perhaps there is a kind of rebellion in making them a sexual interest.

Leather

I couldn’t write a post about gay kink without mentioning the leather scene!

Leather has a long history within the gay community as a symbol of masculinity, rebellion, and sexual liberation. It has been associated with the leather subculture, which emerged in the mid-20th century as a way for gay men to express their sexuality and challenge societal norms.

It’s believed it actually started with the Biker culture after WW2, when many gay men adopted the aesthetic of masculinity as a rebellion against stereotypes.

Indeed, Tom of Finland seems to have been inspired by that subculture as much as he was by the cruising and trucker themes of the era. This is perhaps also why so much gay porn from the 1960s and 70s features rugged and hyper-masculine themes.

Along with leather having a masculine aesthetic appeal there’s also the physical side of it. The smell and feel of leather are usually things the leather fetishist enjoys.

Leather gear, such as harnesses, collars, and cuffs, can also be used as symbols of dominance and submission, adding an element of power play and eroticism to sexual encounters. It is important to note that not all gay men are interested in or participate in leather fetishism and the number who do seems to have declined significantly since the 80s, but there are still leather communities out there, and even some clubs where it’s a feature on special nights.

Again, it’s not something I’ve particularly been interested in, but I can understand the appeal. Some men do look damn hot in leather!

Bondage

One of the gay kinks I have experienced first-hand is bondage. I admit it! It’s pretty hot, and even though it’s not something I have adopted much into my sex life I do enjoy a little restraint now and then.

Obviously, bondage usually involves elements of dominance and submission, allowing individuals to explore power dynamics and role-playing scenarios, but it’s also commonly used as a tool in play such as edging. Restraining a partner during edging prevents them from taking over and ending it too soon.

Depending on one’s role, it can provide a sense of control or surrender, which can be exciting and arousing. Restraining someone or being restrained can enhance sensory experiences during sexual activities. The feeling of being physically constrained can intensify sensations and increase pleasure for some individuals.

If you add a blindfold to the mix it makes the entire experience even more intense.

While anyone can give it a try I would say that engaging in bondage requires a level of trust and communication between partners. I personally don’t think it’s the kind of thing you should get into with a random hook up, but I guess that sense of danger might be appealing to some.

I think being vulnerable and placing trust in a partner can deepen emotional intimacy and strengthen their bond, so if I was going to get more into it I would choose someone I know and have a relationship with already.

There’s no doubt that the psychological aspect of bondage, such as anticipation, suspense, and surrender, can be super arousing for a lot of guys. I know a dude who loves being in a chastity device, but it’s not because of the control his partner has over him, it just heightens the anticipation of what’s to come.
