Loading...I had an interesting experience at the gym today. There were a couple of guys just hanging out and talking in the locker room, dicks out and no care in the world. Naturally it inspired me to get some pics of naked buddies just being bros for this post today.
Interestingly, my gym is pretty cruisy. It's not uncommon to find someone showing off in the showers or looking for a sneaky jerk off or suck. It's been a little while for me but I know it still goes on quite a lot.
These two guys didn't give me that vibe, though.
They were just talking about work. I wasn't planning to overhear but I knew they both worked in sales for the same company and their manager is apparently a (word I won't use here) lol
It really got me thinking.
Back when I was in my teens and twenties I don't think guys were wimps about being naked around each other. These days it seems most guys do that silly towel dance in the locker room just so no one sees their dick.
More and more urinals have those weird screens between them. Fewer and fewer gang showers exist.
I don't get it. Why are so many guys so insecure about the possibility of another dude seeing their junk?

I think so. I’m not sure of the reason (I am an old veterinarian and not a psychologist), but I think that easy access to so much male pornography, and comparison with porn models and actors (men who are always handsome, XXXL, and sexually high-performing) can convince a young boy that this is male normalcy and consequently engender a sense of inadequacy, weaken self-esteem, and reduce sexual self-confidence.

It used to be that middle schools and high schools in the US all had those gang showers and everyone had to use them after gym class or team sports practice. I think most people were uncomfortable in those situations, but that is just the way it was and noone questioned it. I was always afraid I would be sporting a woody and it was hard to control that at 16 years of age. I remember some poor boys were rock hard for every shower and they got picked on for taht. It was the same set up in the dorms when I went to university. I remember that I switched dorms my 2nd year and the new dorm had previously been a girls dorm and it had individual shower stalls with curtains. I was so disappointed. But the university rec center still had the gang showers, it was such an eye feast.
Yeah you’re right. Never thought about it either, but you are correct. We were never overt about it, but, in high school (late 1970s) all the guys showered together, urinals didn’t have partitions and in the older buildings the toilets didn’t have doors. Nobody got weird it was just a guy’s locker room or restroom.
