I'm not sure how long it's been since we last enjoyed some vintage muscle, but the sight of Clarence Ross naked should make up for it.

Granted, it's only one pic, and it's not a full frontal. Having said that, there's something very sexy about it.

Clarence was born in 1923 and was in the care system after the early death of his mother. During his teen years he discovered bodybuilding and that led to a lot of opportunities.

He served in the military after Pearl Harbor and got married, but his career in bodybuilding and fitness really started after the end of the war.

After winning the AAU Mr. America contest in 1945 he began posing for photographers and appearing in numerous high-level physique publications.

I guess these were mostly mainstream. You can tell from the pics below that they were a little more "tame" than some of the underground publications.

I get the feeling he might have appeared for a couple of lesser known photographers too.

We know he posed naked at least once. There's one known photo of him baring all but it's fair to assume it wasn't the only time he did.

Most of those guys weren't shy.

So much photography from back then wasn't saved, or it's yet to be discovered. Who knows how many magazines are stacked in basements or attics just waiting to be found?

Who knows how many negatives are rolled up in a box somewhere. They're just begging for someone to bring them out into the light.

There probably are thousands more images of Clarence Ross naked that we haven't ever seen. I'm not the only one hoping to see them one day!

Enjoy him, admire that incredible physique, and let's all hope we see more of him in the future.
