Remembering Charles Devoe
I had a conversation with my sister this morning and asked her who her favorite male model is. Without hesitation she told me Charles Devoe. Being a bit of an adrenaline junkie herself, she always admires others who chase an active lifestyle and take risks, and although her lifestyle doesn't usually associate with the world of fashion, she is very in-tune with the industry after working for a London designer in her teens.
I can certainly see why she chose Charles Devoe as her favorite male model. He is incredibly handsome, and he certainly does have an aura or energy about him. Or am I just being a bit of a hippie?
Charles Devoe worked for several major names in fashion including Dolce & Gabbana and Abercrombie & Fitch. He was signed to Major Model Management after moving to New York from his home in Philadelphia in 2004 to chase his dream of professional modeling, and quickly became popular.
Attentive readers might note that I write about Charles Devoe in the past tense. This is sadly because Mr. Devoe passed away at the young age of 28 after a tragic surfing accident last year. Although things were looking up and the young man seemed to be improving under medical care, after a month in a coma he slipped quietly away.
I think we'll all agree that his passing is a loss. And not simply because he was good-looking. Enjoy these images as I'm sure he intended an audience to.
OMG so sad…
I know. I spent a little while thinking about whether I should write the post actually. But I decided that it should be done. Why not?
It is sad, but he should definitely be appreciated for the work that he did while here.
