Photographer Shares Uncensored Versions of Published Images

Paris-based Selin Magazine is a global leader in promoting cutting edge fashion and art through its rigorous selection of photography submissions. Boudoir Photography was the special theme for May 2025. This genre was specifically created for female subjects who would commission female photographers to create very intimate portraits celebrating sexuality or body positivity. The best images combine elements of fantasy, portraiture and artistic nudes. Boudoir is French for the Bedroom Suite which can include individual areas for wardrobe, vanity and make-up, and other accessories such as wigs, costumes, and paraphernalia. Women treat their bedroom area like a sanctuary, that is a safe space for them to explore in private. With few exceptions most men have limited association to the Boudoir apart from sleeping or copulating.

Many modern men have incorporated rituals into preparing for bedtime. Most activities are related to exercise, self-care and grooming, dressing or undressing as dictated by the weather. Those who are in great physical shape tend to prefer going to bed completely naked. I tried to submit sexy images that supported by thesis, but I knew I had to censor many of my images because portraits that portray penises are prohibited in mainstream publications. Meanwhile full frontal nudity for the female form is completely acceptable.

I was disappointed that only one of my portraits of an Asian male couple was selected for publication. A few other images were rejected, even though they supported my thesis and were beautiful captures of men in the context of Boudoir Photography.
