Heavenly Beauty in Portraits of Human Imperfection
Republished courtesy of Moevir Magazine, May Issue 2025
We live in an age where AI technology can be used to create a flawless human face. But beauty is not defined by the achievement of perfection. These portraits of Sam at age 17, invite closer scrutiny to appreciate the heavenly beauty that exists because of human imperfections.
The first image of the model's face in extreme close-up reveals facial features that contain both feminine and masculine traits. The combination of these "flaws" is a face that is not too androgynous, not too feminine, not too masculine but a perfect ratio that cannot be quantified or matched by A.I. Apart from color correction, I did not retouch the detailed flaws in the model's complexion which include under-eye bags, puffiness, blemishes, bumps, moles and freckles.
The second image depicts the beauty of balance by showing more of the model's face in context. Even in the unforgiving light of day, the visible imperfections do not diminish nor distract from this stunning portrait of a beautifully handsome male model.
