I think there may be more going on, and your friend may not have known how to break this to you. I think communication is the most important thing we have, but most people are shitty at it. I’d reach out to your friend, let him know he let you down by not talking to you, and wish him well. At that point, it’s in his court.

Thanks Tony, you’ve kind of affirmed what I believe too. I’ve actually known him for over ten years now, we lived together for a year too. He’s always been my “gigging buddy”, the one I call up when there’s a festival or band to go see. He got into a real serious relationship about three years ago, leading to them moving in together within 6 months, marriage a year later, now two children… he’s only in his 20’s! Now they’re moving he’s leaving all his friends behind, his family, his first son, a job – I just wonder if they’re trying too hard to keep something alive that’s dead already.

I think I agree with you – cut him out. He clearly doesn’t respect our friendship and I really don’t need people like that in my life. I guess if it’s that easy to just dismiss me then we weren’t really friends to begin with.
